The Lassen Community College District welcomes applications for the position of Superintendent/ President. To be assured of consideration, please complete the application packet by the deadline of December 6, 2024.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution; AND
- Four (4) years of successful senior-level administrative experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
- Strong academic experience in either teaching, counseling, and/or other faculty experience
- Experience in a single-college district preferred
Lassen Community College is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader who shares our vision and possesses a proven track record in planning, directing, and evaluating operational activities within a higher education environment. The President’s primary responsibility is to ensure educational excellence for all students at Lassen Community College. The Board is seeking a committed, enthusiastic leader with a demonstrated dedication to student success and instructional excellence.
The President will provide strong and innovative financial management for the college and is expected to support and implement a strategic vision that builds upon the dedication of students, faculty, and staff within a participatory governance framework. We are looking for a creative and forward-thinking leader who will help advance our institution in support of our students and the communities we serve.
Nestled in a largely undiscovered region, Lassen County offers a pristine natural environment with exceptional air quality and rural communities ideal for raising families. Residents enjoy a lower cost of living, reduced traffic, and minimal crime. - A cover letter, of no more than six (6) pages, that succinctly addresses what extent the candidate meets the minimum and desired qualifications sought for this position
- A current resume or curriculum vitae of no more than six (6) pages, describing professional experience, educational background, and other pertinent information
- A list of six references: two supervisors, two direct reports, and two faculty and/or staff members
For the applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and who have submitted all the required
documents, a search advisory committee will screen the application packets and determine the candidates
who are best qualified based on the minimum qualifications and desirable qualifications. Those candidates will be invited to interview. Initial interviews are tentatively scheduled for January 3, 2025, and final board interviews are tentatively scheduled for January 10, 2025. All interviews will be in person.
Finalists may be invited for additional interviews and public forums tentatively planned for January 15, 2025. The new president will be expected to assume duties on or about March 1, 2025.
